Liverpool head to Stamford Bridge to play Chelsea in this weekend’s biggest Premier League clash!
A new team
Chelsea got off to a solid start with a 1-3 win over Brighton on Monday evening. However, they have a much more difficult task at hand this Sunday. This match against Liverpool will give a better indication of how much their new signings have settled early on. Chelsea are at 21/10 to defeat Liverpool.
The Reds were involved in a classic encounter with Leeds on the opening day — winning 4-3 via a late Mo Salah goal. The Egypt star scored a hat-trick in that match and will be eyeing up more goals against his former team at Stamford Bridge. Salah is at 21/20 to score against Chelsea.
Liverpool won both of the league matches between the two in the previous campaign which included a 5-3 goal fest on the penultimate game of the season. Chelsea did, however, record a 2-0 FA Cup win over Liverpool at this stadium. Chelsea signed plenty of players during the summer which makes this one a bit more difficult to call. They will be boosted by how leaky Liverpool looked in their opening match against Leeds and their manager Frank Lampard will see the performance of Leeds as a blueprint heading into the game.
Despite their attacking signings, Chelsea fans will have concerns regarding their weak defence from last season. Thiago Silva was acquired, but the veteran will have to adapt quickly to the league. Goalkeeping is their main problem, and the team in blue have not yet offloaded their £75 million keeper Kepa Arrizabalaga meaning that he could end up being first choice for the season. He’s had a disastrous spell for Chelsea, and it remains to be seen if he will ever recover the number one spot.
Injuries and suspensions
Chelsea: Hakim Ziyech.
Liverpool: Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
