Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan, Seville, Spain.
Thursday 11th June 2020.
Kick-off: 21:00 (UK).
TV: La Liga TV/Premier Sports (UK).
The first match of the Spanish La Liga restart sees Sevilla play Real Betis in the Seville derby.
Sevilla were having a decent season before the break, and they currently sit third in the league, but only five points separate them from Valencia in 7th. Julen Lopetegui has recovered his reputation slightly after the controversial end to his time as manager of the Spanish national team and his disastrous spell at Real Madrid. However, if Sevilla don’t make next year’s Champions League; his time in Andalusia could also be cut short.
Leaky at the back
Real Betis are having a disappointing season as they find themselves 12th in the table with the third-worst defence in the division. If things continue, their manager “Rubi” may be out of a job once the season is over. Their veteran player Joaquin still plays for them, and he has been in fine form with eight goals from midfield this season. You can back Real Betis at 29/10 to defeat Sevilla.
Sevilla have won the last two derbies including a 1-2 victory in November. Winger Lucas Ocampos has had a dream season so far as he made his debut for Argentina in November and has notched ten goals in La Liga. He also scored in the previous derby, and he’s at 7/5 to grab another goal on Thursday evening. The lack of fans for Sevilla could make things more even, and they’ll be hoping that the superior quality of their players will make the difference instead. The break came at a bad time for Betis as their last match in La Liga saw them record an impressive 2-1 win over Real Madrid. Another performance like that will be what the fans expect against their arch-rivals.
Injuries and suspensions
Sevilla: Nemnaja Gudelj.
Real Betis: Juanmi, William Carvalho and Diego Lainez.
The Seville derby usually has a lot of goals, and we’re tipping a Sevilla win and both teams to score at odds of 13/5.
